About Us
CalderGold was created to support people over 40 across Calderdale. We provide practical health and wellbeing information, useful local resources and opportunities to feel healthier, stronger and more connected.
Life after 40 can bring changes in energy, confidence, mobility and health. Everyday priorities can change too. However, finding the right support is not always easy. Many people also feel overlooked by services designed for a much wider age range.
CalderGold aims to make health information easier to understand and local support easier to find.
What we want to achieve
Our aim is to build a trusted local health and wellbeing hub for people over 40. Through the CalderGold website, visitors can explore useful information and discover local services.
They can also find events, activities and practical ways to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing.
We want CalderGold to be practical, welcoming and realistic. Our focus is not on quick fixes or unrealistic expectations. Instead, we want to help people make positive changes that suit their health, ability and starting point.
Supporting people across Calderdale
CalderGold is rooted in Calderdale and designed around the needs of local people. We also want to highlight the valuable work already taking place across the area.
This includes work carried out by community groups, health professionals, charities, activity providers and local organisations.
By bringing this information together in one place, we hope to make local support easier to find. We also want to help people discover new opportunities and feel more confident about taking their next step.
The proposed CalderGold Health and Wellbeing Centre
Alongside the website, we are working towards opening a dedicated CalderGold Health and Wellbeing Centre for people over 40.
Our vision is to create a welcoming place where fitness, rehabilitation, wellbeing services and community support come together under one roof.
The proposed centre could include an age-friendly gym, group activities and support for mobility and strength. It could also include physiotherapy, health and wellbeing services and a comfortable community space.
The centre is still at the planning and development stage. Therefore, we are using community surveys, local conversations and partnerships to learn what people would genuinely use and value.
Why over 40?
People over 40 are not one single group. Some are highly active, while others may be returning to exercise after illness, injury or a long period of inactivity.
Others may be managing menopause, joint pain or long-term health conditions. Changes in confidence, strength and mobility can also affect everyday life.
CalderGold recognises these differences. Our aim is to provide information and support that feels relevant, respectful and achievable. Most importantly, people should be able to find support without judgement or intimidation.
Our values
CalderGold is built around four main values:
Helping people feel welcomed, listened to and encouraged.
Building physical ability, confidence, resilience and independence.
Recognising that meaningful improvement looks different for everyone.
Connecting people with local services, activities and one another.
Help shape CalderGold
CalderGold is being developed with the community, not simply for it. Therefore, we welcome ideas and suggestions from local residents.
We also want to hear from health and wellbeing professionals, community organisations, charities, activity providers and potential partners.
Your views can help us improve the website and strengthen the local directory. They can also help shape the proposed CalderGold Centre so it genuinely reflects the needs of people over 40 in Calderdale.
Be part of CalderGold
You may want to volunteer, help spread the word or contribute to the proposed centre. Every offer of support can help move the CalderGold vision forward.
